About the distillery
The Wild Turkey distillery has a long and storied history in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. Built in 1935 by the Ripy Brothers (then known as Boulevard), it later became closely associated with the Wild Turkey name — a nickname that originated around 1941 when whiskey shared on a hunting trip was referred to as “some of that wild turkey whiskey.”
For many years, Austin Nichols bottled Wild Turkey while sourcing whiskey from the Ripy’s, before purchasing the distillery in 1972 and renaming it. The acquisition also secured the contract of legendary Master Distiller Jimmy Russell, who began working there in 1954 and became synonymous with the brand. His son succeeded him in 2015. In 2011, a new Wild Turkey distillery was built on the same site, replacing the original Ripy plant after 76 years.
About the Master’s Keep series
The Master’s Keep series debuted in 2017, featuring highly regarded releases including the original Aged 17 Years, Decades, The 1824, and Revival. This Bottled in Bond version of the 17-year-old was released in June 2020, offering a distinctive take on a modern Wild Turkey classic.
